Hindu Festival Hub publishes guides to Hindu festivals, their dates, rituals and meaning. This policy explains how we research, write, check and correct that content.
How we determine festival dates
Festival dates on this site are based on established panchang sources. Unless a page says otherwise, dates are for New Delhi, India (IST) and come from Drik Panchang, cross-checked against at least one other published calendar. When sources disagree, or when a festival is commonly kept on a different day by another tradition or region, we say so on the page rather than choosing silently.
Muhurat and tithi timings depend on location. We only publish timings that come from a named source for a named city, and we do not calculate or estimate them ourselves.
How we write about traditions
- We distinguish between scriptural accounts, historical information and popular belief.
- We describe regional and family variations instead of presenting one practice as the only correct one.
- We do not invent quotations, mantras, rituals or citations. Where we quote scripture or reference a text, we name it.
- We aim for respectful, plain language that is useful to readers of every background.
Updates and corrections
We review date pages before each festival season and update year-specific information when a new year’s calendar is available. If you spot an error, please tell us through our contact page with the page address and the source you are using. We correct factual errors promptly and, for significant date corrections, note the change on the page.
Independence
Our guides are written to inform readers. Advertising, where present, does not influence which festivals we cover or what we say about them.
